Who Do You Put Your Day-to-Day Trust In?
We spread our trust around all day without noticing:
The doctor will know what to do.
The check will clear.
He'll come through this time.
My sister will find it for me.
None of that is wrong, but the Chovos HaLevavos points out something simple about all of those: every single one of them can also fail you, has very limited resources in the long run, and is just a mortal.
They mean well, but Hashem is the only One Who knows what you actually need, can actually do it, and never gets tired, distracted, or short on funds. It's just 'good sense' to evaluate who and what you're putting your trust in.
Who or what do you find yourself leaning on, and hoping that they "come through" today?
